Gentle Introduction To Topic Maps

Overview

A one-day course covering the fundamentals of Topic Maps and the XML Topic Maps (XTM) syntax. The course begins with a non-technical overview of the topic map paradigm and its potential applications. Following this, the course provides a more detailed examination of the expression of these concepts in the XTM syntax. Finally, the course looks at the technical and practical aspects of implementing a topic map-based application.

Pre-requisites

The first half of the course is non-technical and there are no pre-requisites. For the second half of the course, a basic knowledge of XML is required to follow the description of the XTM syntax.
